At Thanksgiving, Eric returns from Phoenix hoping to patch things up with Holly, only to find that she has moved on with Sam. Holly feels abandoned and betrayed and thinks he is running away from his responsibilities. When Janine from child services arrives to check in on them, she advises them to decide whether they really wanted to be with each other because any discrepancy or ups and downs in their relationship might directly affect Sophie.Įric is offered his dream job with the Phoenix Suns and takes it. The two go on a date and end up sleeping with each other. When Holly discovers how raising a child is expensive and is preventing her from expanding her business, Eric invests in her business. When the couple join him at the hospital, Eric sees Holly kiss Sam and it upsets him. Holly goes on a date with Sam, Sophie’s pediatrician but the date is cut short when Messer calls Sam about Sophie having a fever. When they get home, Holly and Eric have a big argument, but later make up. One night when Holly has to go away for a catering job and Eric is needed at the studio, he makes the ill- judgement of taking Sophie to the studio which causes him a lot of trouble at work. And so, Holly and Messer (as Holly calls Eric) struggle a lot.
The movie quite honestly shows how any two individuals would react when they are needed to take care of a baby and neither of them knows how to. Will the duo make it or will the challenge break them? But taking care of a baby and living together seems to have its challenges. But shortly after Sophie’s first birthday, Peter and Alison die in a tragic car accident and Holly and Eric find out that they have been named Sophie’s joint guardians.įailing to find anyone fit to take care of Sophie in either Peter’s or Alison’s side of the family, Holly and Eric decide to make the best of the situation and move into Sophie’s house. They name Holly and Eric, Sophie’s god- parents. They both hate each other but kind of tolerate co-existing for Peter and Alison who get married and have a beautiful daughter Sophie. They first meet each other when their best friends, Peter and Alison set them up on a blind date that goes devastatingly wrong.
